Gallantly Streaming: How To Destroy Angels' Debut Is A Welcome Return To Reznor's Noise Pop Days

Stream the debut full-length album from How To Destroy Angels at Pitchfork Advance . I don't suckle from the Pitchfork teat by any means, but the layout for this stream is pretty badass. After a few years, a couple of just-okay EPs and a handful of teasers, How To Destroy Angels is finally on the cusp of releasing Welcome Oblivion , their debut album. For those unfamiliar with the line-up, HTDA is comprised of Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor along with his wife Mariqueen, as well as frequent Reznor collaborators Rob Sheridan and Atticus Ross.

Year in Rock 2012 Nominee: How To Destroy Angels

HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS Ice Age From: An Omen (EP) Released: November 13 An Omen is a very chill affair, one which hints at Trent Reznor's maniacal knack for noisemaking while stifling all his ghosts beneath the surface. It all makes for a listen that's somehow both more soothing and more unsettling. Take the staggeringly gorgeous Ice Age , a track which finds Mariqueen in top form and her sonic surroundings rising from a gentle ditty to a threatening storm of otherworldly discord. It passes without harm, but the listener can't help but wonder exactly what manner of beast this omen warns of. I suppose we'll find out in 2013, when their full-length debut album is unleashed.

Potpourri: This Might Take A Couple Of Hours

Jeez Louise, I go away for two days and the news just piles up. I have no excuse, however, for all the other stuff over the past two weeks that I neglected and/or forgot. Anyway, first on the docket is a brand new single from How To Destroy Angels, the musical brainchild of Mr. & Mrs. Trent Reznor. In lieu of new NIN (which, as we've been assured, is in the pipeline), Keep It Together serves an admirable purpose of tiding us longtime fans over.
