Potpourri: Green Day Is Doing The Streaming Thing Way Wrong

This post was going to start with a stream of Green Day's new album, but:

a) The NME exclusive stream is limited to the Brits.
b) You have to "like" their Facebook page to gain access elsewhere.
c) Doing so in Canada opens up a link to Rdio.
d) Rdio is a subscription based service that gives limited free trial time and asks for credit information.
e) We've already heard 1/3 of it, and the other 2/3 isn't worth all that effort.

So, that still leaves us with some good content, all of which is readily available.

Deftones' seventh album Koi No Yokan comes out in a couple of months, and today they've offered up Leathers as a free download on their official site. Preview it here, then go get some of that free awesome action:

It's a good thing I could see the waveform, 'cause the 41 second mark would've scared the shit out of me. The sneakiness of the song notwithstanding, after one listen I'm already liking this better than any Deftones single since the White Pony days; and it's not even the official single. Sign me up.

Koi No Yokan drops November 13.

I'm not saying the cover for Titus Andronicus' third album Local Business (yes, that's it) is awful. I'm just saying that's not the kind of album cover that gets your album good attention.

Presumably, Titus Andronicus could give two shits what I or anyone else think of their album cover. For that matter, I could give two shits what their album cover looks like if the rest of it is as full of ragged beauty as lead single In A Big City:

I just wanna say, I love that this lyric video beats every potential fan-made video ever to the punch with its literal use of jpegs and inclusion of Lil Wayne.

Local Business is out October 23 on XL.

I'm not letting you leave without checking out this new song from Pig Destroyer.

I understand that it's an acquired taste and all, but doesn't somebody agree that this hits the sweet spot after a long day of working like a dog, being unhappy and fighting the urge to choke somebody out with a telephone cord?

Play this one loud:

I feel much better now.

Pig Destroyer's fifth album (and first in five years) is called Book Burner, out October 23 on Relapse.
