Here's a sketch featuring Eddie Vedder (in animated and actual human form) from a recent episode of IFC's hilarious Portlandia, which stars longtime friend of Eddie (and former member of hopefully-reuinting soon Sleater-Kinney) Carrie Brownstein, and some guy who used to be on Mad TV or something (I kid, it's lovable SNL'er Fred Armisen).  No more talking, watch this:

Now we're getting somewhere; the top ten, where there are no duds or mids, only bangers. IN REVIEW: Rancid - "Trouble Maker"

As far as punk rock goes, it's hard to name a hotter hot streak than the trio of records Rancid cranked out between 1995 and 2000; the star making ...And Out Come the Wolves , the far-reaching Life Won't Wait and their balls-to-the-wall second self-titled album solidly positioned Rancid as leaders of the second generation of punk. It also preceded a period of slow progression, as Rancid would take eleven years to release their next three records. By the time ...Honor Is All We Know came in 2014, many fans (myself included) had to wonder whether or not this was the end of the road. COMING IN DECEMBER Since this blog's origins in 2011 (and, for longtime friends, long before), I've given an annual rundown of my favourite songs and albums at year's end, lauding the ones I enjoyed the most and crowning them with empty, meaningless awards. That hasn't changed for 2014, but the way I'm presenting it has.
